Rainy Days

Oh how I love the rainy season! There's just something special about sleeping in on a rainy day. I love everything about it, the soft beating sound of rain drops, the crisp scent of a fresh shower, and the warm feeling of laying under the covers with nothing to do. Theses past couple of weeks its been so sunny that it feels more like Spring than Winter. This nice change of weather has been long overdue. Too bad these days can't last forever. I start school again on Tuesday and probably will again be swamped with tons of homework, assignments, and projects for my accounting organization (Beta Alpha Psi). For now all I can do is just try to notice the little things in life and enjoy what little freedom I have left before it all starts again.

By the San Francisco Shore

Since Monday was a holiday, we randomly decided to take the 2 hour drive to Frisco. We left with my sister Alla and her Bf Ilya on Sunday evening after church and didn't get there till around 10 pm. We were tired after the long drive so we decided to just chill at the hotel and watch movies instead of going out. We slept-in the next morning, and after packing went to the bakery to buy some goodies for our picnic at the beach. It was a lot of fun, we set out some blankets on the sand and just enjoyed the scenery while munching on our yummy pastries. Half way through we were interrupted by an adorable little pug named George who decided to go sniffing around to find out what we were eating. I love dogs so much, but I'm probably going to have to wait till summer before I can get one because we aren't allowed to keep pets at our condo :( After the beach we decided to go explore the Coit Tower. The view from the tower was amazing, but aside from taking a few pics there was not much else to do there. The whole day the weather was amazing, nice and sunny. After, we went to Pier 49 to watch a couple of shows and grab some dinner at Bubba Gump. While waiting for our seats we took a couple of fun pics. Heres one of my hubby, notice the extra large tennis shoes :) We waited a long time for our food, almost 40 min, and my shrimp pasta came out cold. Plus I just had my wisdom teeth surgically removed last saturday so eating it was quite a challenge. I'm constantly getting food stuck in my holes while they're healing. Overall the restaurant was kinda fun to try once, but I'm definitely not coming back because the food sucked! We left home pretty early that evening because everyone had work the next day and I had contribution meetings to attend for my Accounting Organization at school. It was a nice little vacation to take before school starts next week.

Family Time

Wow! Its been a while since my last post and a lot has happened since then. Well, we finally invited Larry's parents over for dinner last Friday, believe it or not but they've only been to our house once since we moved in over a year ago. I decided to go all out and cook tons of yummy food. I made grilled butter-garlic shrimp, Mashed potatoes and gravy, Herb chicken rolls, crab salad, avocado shrimp salad, and probably a few other things that I can't remember now. It was my first time making the avocado salad, and it turned out pretty good. I took a quick snapshot of the last one left. It was a lot brighter when I first made it, but after a couple of hours the avocado starts to change color a little... The food all turned out delicious, but the part that really sucked was that my hubby never told me that his brother and sister don't really like shrimp or seafood in general. Needless to say there were a lot of left-overs :(
Dessert on the other hand turned out a lot better. I made fruit jello inside of orange peels, and not only did it turn out delicious but it looked super cute too...
I also made a Peanut-Caramel cake which is definitely one of my hubby's fav desserts. I took a quick shot before serving it...Overall dinner turned out great a we had a lot of fun spending time together. Larry's parents had to leave early to take care of his sick grandma, so we ended up just hanging out with our brother and his family. They have the most adorable kids ever Ruvim and Vanessa. Here's a pic of Ruvim rummaging through my kitchen. Don't be fooled by his innocent smile, he's always getting into mischief where ever he goes. Since we don't have kids, there's obviously not much toys to play with, so he ends up finding his own. From playing with my phone to throwing my decorations around the house for the dog to fetch. What a typical boy...but too cute to resist.

Tahoe Trip w/ Friends

Well after the New Year party I probably slept around 3-4 hrs, and surprising wasn't tired at all in the morning... As soon as we woke up, we called up some friends and decided to drive up to Lake Tahoe. The drive was pretty smooth since it hasn't snowed up there for days, but we did have to stop at a few gas stations to buy Lottery Tickets!! Yeah don't ask... ever since I won $50 on a bingo scratcher, I've been feeling lucky :) ... Anyways after we finally got there we decided to buy some sleds and go test the hills at the snow park. It was really crowded with children running all over the place and I was a lil' hesitant at first especially since I didn't have my snow clothes on but in the end it turned out great. Every time we went down the hill we had to yell to make sure everyone moved outta the way...Luckily we didn't hit anyone in the process. Later that night we went out to Denny's to get some dinner, definitely not my favorite place to eat, but it wasn't too bad. Just when everyone was getting ready to go home, we got this great idea to stay the night. So my husband and I and my sister and her boyfriend made last minute reservations for a hotel in Reno so we wouldn't have to go home. Once we got there, we were pretty tired so we ended up just buying some snacks and watching movies in the hotel room. Yay how fun... I guess it was snowing all night cuz when we woke up in the morning the scene was completely different, everything was covered in snow :) We went to breakfast at Ihop and then started our long drive home... and by long, I mean LONG... It was snowing pretty hard the whole day and the roads were all packed, with everyone heading home after the holidays. Good thing we went on our Jeep and didn't have to stop to put on chains. Well we probably got home around 8pm and headed straight to my grandma's house to celebrate her birthday.
